The talk of the Nation...
Can you honestly believe that the number one commercial right now if most likely about weight loss. Our country is so convinced that we are over weight that the TV is constantly screaming at us to buy diet pills, diet plans, or even meals that are designed to help a brother eat right. This, of course, is mostly aimed at women because it is some unwritten rule apparently that women, all of you, are too fat and the world hates you. This is not true at all because women do not need to lose weight and the nation is not too fat. Yes, our obesity is getting out of hand but all of the commercials and the height of weight loss is getting out of hand and I am getting quite annoyed by it. I just want people to know that you do not need pills and you do not need the Bo-flex, you just need to exercise and eat right and everything will be okay.
I have to say that when I was twelve years old I was extremely overweight. I actually weighed about 40 pounds heavier than I am now and also was about five inches shorter. So if you could imagine I was very overweight. I even have this great picture of me before my sixth grade graduation when I am trying to wear a vest with my suit but I was so big that the buttons were literally popping out of it. I remember having to watch out for the way I moved or I would pop a button out. I was a very happy kid however and my weight did not really seem to be a problem to me until I got to about 8th grade and I began to lose weight. but I really want to tell a story about myself and how my weight loss was made and now maintained.
For a while I tried to just exercise and that did not help. The main problem was that I was not eating right and thus I was losing weight but not very quickly. So I began the Atkins Diet, which is the no carbohydrates diet, and I lost weight fast. I actually lost about 50 pounds in the course of three months and it was quite good for me. however, when I tried to go off the diet I quickly gained about ten pounds back. I then kept exercising and changed my eating habits, but this time I was just eating fruits and vegetables and stayed away from the extremely unhealthy food. This is what has really helped me in keeping the weight off.
To be honest I did gain twenty pounds the first year of college and had to work it off over my first summer, but I lost it again by focusing on eating right and exercising. I have never had to resort to dieting or dieting pills. Now this could just be my body type, but as long as I focus on eating right and exercising regularly I have been fine. I am one of those people who quickly start to eat badly but once I get back into it all is fine. I also feel so happy all the time, I just feel good physically. This then helps me have a good attitude and continue to eat healthily because it makes me feel good and I look good too. So my only suggestion to you is to try and eat right and exercise first. Do not try expensive diet plans or pills, but try the old fashioned way. I am not guaranteeing that this is going to work for everyone, but it should. People in the old days did not have these options and had did those who were skinny stay that way huh? So remember too, you have to be happy the way you are too and if you are and want to lose way do it! Because then you will be able to lose weight because attitude is everything!
Good Luck,
Yeshua (Joshua)
