Hello all!
Wow, it was so nice to have a little break from school over this past holiday. I must admit, that in comparison to last year, this vacation was actually a "break" from school work. I remember how last year I had brought a lot of work home with me that I ended up doing. I hate doing that because then I feel like I am wasting the time with my family so this year I made sure that was not going to happen! I got a ton of work done right before I left so that I would be able to have the long weekend off and just spend time with the family. Being that this was such a busy semester, I barely have been able to go home at all, so it was great to finally be home, be around my amazing family, and finally for the first time in the entire semester RELAX!!!
Going home is always wonderful being able to see the family and catch up. For me, I am always quite excited about seeing the dogs. I am sure that most people would be thinking "wait, what who cares about the dogs?" But for me, those dogs are amazing and I have always had a dog at the house growing up. So when I went away to college it was weird to not have dogs around. I love taking then our for walks, playing with them, and just having them around. Dogs are great therapy and I am so thankful I have always had dogs around. I also like going home to spend time with my little nephew Nicholas, who is 6 and a half. He is at such a great age, wants to play all the time, and never gets tired. He is a good reminder of what I used to be with energy and how I no longer can play as long as he can without getting tired. He is just such a great kid and I love him to pieces. And because now that my brother and his wife are divorced, I do not see Nicholas as much so I was so grateful to go and see him.
I also love being able to spend time with the parents. I have really grown to love and respect them even more (if that is possible) while being in college. They are just so great to be around and hanging out with them was really great. Unfortunately both of them had to work most of the time, working different shifts, so I did not really see them together, but got to see them. So I am so thankful that I got to spend time with them. It makes me very excited for the long break because I will be able to see them quite a bit with no guilt of not doing my homework or having to leave home early for a meeting or something. It is just so nice to have the long break so close and it is going to be incredible. I also loved seeing my friends from home.
Being that most of us are going to schools in different states, VT, NH, MA, NY, VA, and another VT it is very difficult to see one another during the semesters, basically impossible. I would gladly go and visit someone, but then it is not fair if I go see one friend and not another. So we all basically just wait till the holiday breaks that all of us have and then get together and hang out as if nothing has changed. What is kind of nice, is that you really shift through your high school friends during college. You really find the ones you have always been good friends, very close to you, and thus call you still when they go home. I used to hang out with a group of around 12, but now it has shrunk down to 5. They I consider very close friends because we always know when each other are home to hang out and only two of them were in our hometown this weekend and on Saturday we were able to get together.
To be honest, these two are my best friends, I really consider them a brother and sister. The three of us have been hanging out since we were 12 years old. The first summer we knew each other we hung out every single day in the summer, literally! It is nice now because even if we do not see each other very often we know we are still good friends and will be the rest of our lives. We are just so close that nothing will ever come between us. I love both of those guys! Hanging out with Chad and LeeAnn on Saturday was great. I had hung out with both of them separately before, but that day was the three of us just like the old days. We played a little Halo, talked about random things as we always do, and then played Jenga for a long time. We actually go all the way to 26 high, which if you are not a Jenga player, that is pretty impressive! (hahaha)
It was actually quite fun but the best part was the three of us together again. It is crazy to think that the three of us, and my other friends, we are all growing up fast. We are so close to graduating even from college and it is a scary thought. But I have so much to be thankful for in these best years of my life. Being at home in wonderful, being at home is wonderful, so where ever I am it is wonderful. I have some great friends at home and some amazing friends at school. So life is extremely good right now and I would not trade my life for anything!
