Ughh please see last post...Top 5

Soooo if you read the earlier post you'll see how annoyed I get with technology. Not two seconds after I wrote that blog post I went and looked at the one I wrote before that and realized that it never saved. It was really good so I'm gonna post it again.

Before I was so rudely interrupted by the wonderful world of unsaved autobiographical documentation I was writing about my top 5 favorite days of the semester. I'm watching/ just finished reading High Fidelity. If you ask Brige it's a male romance novel. It's about a guy's pathetic life: his failing record store, his ex-girlfriend and her new freaky boyfriend, and his Who-am-I-and-how-did-I-get-this-way life search. Throughout the story he recounts his top 5 anything. It's really fun to think about what your top 5 recording artists, trees, flavors of jelly beans, things that you found at a tag sale, are. Because this blog is supposed to document college life, I'll give you my top 5 days in a semester.

5. Book buying day- a bit geeky but going into the bookstore to get ISBN numbers so I can order them online for a quarter of the price is really exciting. Even better is when you actually get them, look at the back of the book and see how smart you're going to be by the end of the semester. woooow.

4.Any day in the first third of the semester- Nothing is due yet, no stress, just you, your books and your brain. Awesome.

3. The Friday before Thanksgiving Break- when a break comes up, ALWAYS stay until the very last second you can. That last day is just a great day to hang out with friends, throw on a movie and just chillllll.

2. The day of an exam or paper after the assignment has been handed in or finished- After a killer exam or paper it's fantastic to go back to your room, take a deep breath and realize that you're done...you don't have to study any more. You can put your books away and sources and close that word file that has been looming over you for the past 2 or 3 weeks. *sigh*

1. Any day but Tuesdays- I hate Tuesdays...I don't hate, I loathe Tuesdays. You can't talk about the weekend because you did that Monday and it's a day away from hump day. The only good thing about Tuesdays is that new CDs and movies tend to be released then. Any other day tho...fantastic.

New Hampshire and the a Technological Migraine

I'm wired on caffeine right now so I forgot to post about my weekend with Brige this past weekend. My bad

I was in New Hampshire just yesterday having a wonderful time with Yev (that's Brige). I went there for my third...count it....third Comeau family gathering. Every time I go there I love it more. Her family is amazing. They are funny, caring, outrageous (in an awesome way), and all around great people. Going there reminds me of hanging out with my relatives at family reunions. Such goodness. Anyways, I took a GPS with me to show me how to get there. I don't mind driving usually, as long as it's nice out. I would have just mapquested it but I have the great misfortune of never trusting my instincts while behind a wheel. I have a bad sense of direction. It's much easier to have the Garmin's soothing voice telling me when to veer left or take a rotary's second exit. It's a good time.

Before I left I had a bit of trouble with the navigation system. It was not registering and telling me I was driving a bit under 530 miles per hour. It turns out it was just cold. Seeing this, most people would figure, "Oh, when I get to NH I'll take it out of the car so it doesn't get to cold and mess up." Most people doesn't include me. I kept it in my car. It got cold. I got lost. A perfect weekend ending with a pain in the butt technological mind fart. It's amazing how we, (Me), can get so consumed by technology. Times have passed when you could look in someone's car's back seat pockets and see an atlas or a map of Michigan. Everything is computerized. A friend of mine has a button that parallel parks his car. It's amazing. We don't even have to turn our car steering wheels to make moderately difficult driving maneuvers anymore. The worst part about this is the fact that once one of these technological advancements decide to stop working you realize how dependent you are: whether you're circling a block for the fifth time looking for a spot that you can just pull into or pulled over on the side of the road on some random back street in New Hampshire with your mother on the phone because you don't even know how you got to where you were. It's a blast!

Anyways, I asked for one of these navigation systems for Christmas...some people never learn.
