I'm back here in Vermont (the area code is 802) after a week long trip down south. I had three fairs, one in Richmond, VA, Washington DC, and one just north of Baltimore. All great fairs and I met a bunch of people.
I had planned to go to the National Mall one day, but it was pretty raining and I scrapped that idea. I did stop at the Stonewall Jackson Shrine on the way up to DC. This is the cabin that he died in. It wasn't open for the season, and there wasn't much to do there.
So it's past May 1st, and we more or less have our class for next year! Our students are all busy with finals, and the seniors are going through their "lasts" (last class, last test, last paper, etc.) It's a bitter sweet time here on campus. You're excited for the seniors to move on to new adventures out side of SMC, but at the same time, there are definitely people that you'll miss seeing everyday.
A group of my co-workers and I went to watch some of our students present on their internships this semester. They had some very cool experiences ranging from financial firms to Rome Snowboards to the National MS Society. They were form all different majors too. You of course had the expected Business majors, but there was also a Religious Studies and English major. Our students definitely do good work here.
